Natural landscapes: rainforest path

THE WALK TO SCHOONER COVER, PACIFIC RIM NATIONAL PARK, VANCOUVER ISLAND

Light rain accompanied me through the rainforest on Canada’s west coast but as you can see, it didn’t hurt the quality of the scenery I was blessed to photograph. It takes some work to get to this park; from our home in Calgary, Alberta, we drove 12 hours to Vancouver, took a 90-minute ferry ride to the island, then drove another two hours across the island to the west side. Absolutely worth it!  Nikon D90, tripod, polarizing filter.

  1. I have been on this trail or one exactly like it almost. It’s a really cool walk – well, if you don’t do it in late December when the planks are covered in light snow and ice. The weather adds an adrenaline dimension to the beauty of nature!

You’ll find yourself saying “wow, that tree looks awesome. I wonder if I’ll survive the trip over there to see it up close”

Despite that, I recommend these walks on the west side of the island. It’s amazing how good dinner tastes in a warm and cozy restaurant after a walk like that.
